St. Gregory VII Chapter of Catholics United for the Faith presents:

Michael Hichborn
Michael Hichborn is American Life League's Director of 'Defend the Faith,' a project devoted to assisting bishops across the country defend the Catholic Church from attacks, both from without as well as from within. In this capacity, Michael has researched and produced an annual repost on organizations receiving grant money from the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD).
This annual report, exposing dozens of grantees that are promoting abortion, birth control, homosexuality and Marxism, has led to a nation-wide review of the CCHD and a tightening of its guidelines. Michael has also conducted research on Catholic hospital systems that are involved in the performance of abortions and sterilizations, and produced a detailed report on Obamacare and its danger to women, preborn babies and the elderly. Michael is also the host of the online video series, The American Life League Report. These and other videos can be seen at all.org/youtube.

Dr. Benjamin Carson's Amazing Speech at
the National Prayer Breakfast with Obama Present
Full 27:32min
Dear Friends,
The big week has arrived! And I have a new project to tell you about!
First, a review of what I’ll be doing:
My week has started here in Atlanta, participating with the King Family in the commemorative service in honor of Martin Luther King’s birthday. Mention was made during the service of protecting children in the womb! (See my blog for more on that: FrFranksBlog.com.)
Tomorrow, I head to Jackson, MS for a national prayer service I will lead in front of Mississippi’s last remaining abortion mill, which I’m confident will close soon, making Mississippi the first state without an abortion mill! It will be the first of many. We have been working on this for a long time, promoting the “States of Refuge” project with many other groups, inspired by our friends at Operation Save America.
While in Jackson, I will lead prayers on the national prayer webcast (RememberingRoe.com), spearheaded by Heartbeat International.
On Wednesday I will head to Washington to begin activities surrounding the March for Life.
On Thursday I will help lead prayers at the Planned Parenthood killing center in DC from 8:30 to 10am, and then the Youth Rally (at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill) from 2 to 5 in the afternoon, with a stop at the Law of Life summit in between.
Then on Friday, I will preach at the National Memorial for the Preborn and their Mothers and Fathers (NationalPrayerService.com) from 8:30 to 10:30am. This will be the premier prayer service marking 40 years since Roe. Please join me, along with your groups! Plenty of room in Constitution Hall – no tickets required!
Later on Friday, I will kick off the Silent No More Gathering at the steps of the Supreme Court (approximately 2:30) where we will then hear testimonies from those who know firsthand how painful abortion is and how merciful Jesus is. This will go on for about three hours. Please join us for at least part of this! (SilentNoMore.com)
Then on Saturday, I will accept the “Defender of Life” Award from Students for Life of America and will address all the students in attendance.
My Priests for Life team, of course, will be doing dozens of additional things, including Fr. Victor Salomon helping to co-host the coverage of the March for Life on EWTN, and Janet Morana doing a book signing of her new book, Recall Abortion, at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill on Thursday afternoon the 24th starting at noon.
In the midst of all this, I will emphasize in my talks and homilies this overarching theme of “Recall Abortion,” that is, the power of people recalling and relating their experiences and the need for the government to recall this failed and dangerous product.
And we are advancing the “Safe and Legal” project, uncovering in vivid imagery the damage done to women by abortion by distributing the “Safe and Legal” brochure showing the autopsy photos of Marla Cardamone. (See SafeandLegal.com.)
In addition, many have been asking me about our friend Norma McCorvey, the former Jane Roe of Roe vs. wade and how she is doing. She appreciates having a time of privacy right now and appreciates you keeping her in your prayers that the Lord may give her continued healing and peace. Her story of course has been told widely, and you can find out more at PriestsForLife.org.
And finally, a new project is being launched tomorrow!
It is called ExposeAbortion.com and is based on a basic principle of social reform as well as a basic Biblical exhortation.
The project is simple: At ExposeAbortion.com, I will share with you one quote a day that exposes the horror of abortion. It may be a quote from a past or current abortion provider, or a court case, or someone who has had an abortion, or some other source. These short quotes will open people’s eyes, often make them gasp in horror, and enable them to awaken the consciences of their neighbors to what abortion really is.
The project is based on my conviction that a real debate on abortion hasn’t even begun in our nation, because the two sides often talk past each other. Before discussing whether abortion is right or wrong or should be legal or illegal, we have to focus on what it is and what it does. Then we can be sure the opposing sides are discussing the same thing, and then the rest of the discussion can get started.
In social reform movements that uproot deeply embedded societal evils, the victim is always visualized. If we don’t see the victim, we don’t see the violence, and we are not moved to stop the violence.
And in Scripture, we are told by St. Paul, “Have nothing to do with the fruitless works of darkness; rather, expose them!”
So we will do. Please do it with us, spreading the quotes in every way you can. Visit ExposeAbortion.com each day and spread the word. Also see Facebook.com/ExposeAbortion. The quotes start tomorrow, January 22.
God bless you!

PAPAL frontal assault
Catholic Friends:
Up to now, the vast majority of American Catholic bishops have been able to hide behind misinformation to continue their collections for "charities" like CCHD and Catholic Relief Services.
If they continue to do so, they will have declared themselves to be in direct opposition to the will of the Holy Father.
Countdown to the June CCHD collection in Milwaukee begins today.
Please pass this video on to your friends http://youtu.be/ERbgGua6vjc

Catholic Friends:
When Bishops Blaire and Soto published their incredibly disingenuous response to American Life League's analysis of the 2010-2011 CCHD grants, one of their most egregiously false statements was that ALL "unfairly attacked (CCHD) leaders." It seems that every time someone tells the truth about CCHD, they are accused of falling short regarding the virtue of charity. http://www.usccb.org/about/catholic-campaign-for-human-development/Who-We-Are/soto-blaire-cchd-memo.cfm
Several current and former CCHD leaders have demonstrably endeavored to undermine Catholic teaching regarding moral absolutes. Here's a rundown on three of them:
JOHN CARR
Mr. Carr, as USCCB’s Executive Director of the Department of Justice, Peace, and Human Development, currently oversees the entire CCHD operation. Carr's association with the radically pro-abortion and pro-homosexual Center for Community Change (CCC) goes back at least as far as 1983. Annual reports from the CCC reveal that Carr was on the CCC’s board of directors in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006, serving on the executive committee from 1999-2001. When the CCHD scandal broke in 2009, Carr claimed that he wasn't aware of the anti-Catholic positions taken by CCC, so the whole issue boiled down to "what did he know and when did he know it" and it blew over.
In response to criticism during early 2010, Mr Carr was quoted as saying: "I have spent my personal and professional life defending human life and dignity and Catholic teaching . . . ." How does that statement square with his role as executive director of a Carter administration "White House Conference on Families" which adopted a resolution urging the government to "make available to all persons . . . the full range of family planning services -- including birth control information and safe, legal abortion."? According to an Associated Press article written after the last session of that conference, " . . . anti-abortion delegates protested that the conference was rigged in favor of feminists, abortionists and government involvement in family life." If anyone has evidence that Mr. Carr protested the conference resolution, please let me know. http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1876&dat=19800714&id=goYsAAAAIBAJ&sjid=1M0EAAAAIBAJ&pg=3376,2370892
Speaking of government involvement in family life, John Carr was "point-man" for the USCCB advocacy of national health care during 2009 and 2010. Anyone with eyes to see knew that the Obama healthcare plan covered contraception, sterilization and embryonic stem cell research from day one. Here's ALL's analysis from August, 2009. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ip1-MCsZ5Kg) According to ALL's Judie Brown, the USCCB never mentioned these inconvenient truths in any of their statements during the entire run-up to the passage of Obamacare. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0twBNM6aTpM&feature=youtu.be&hd=1) In fact, here's what The Hill wrote about Mr. Carr's stance in November, 2009:
"Representatives of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) said the healthcare bill being debated by the Senate falls short on barring federal funding for abortion, providing coverage for immigrants, and providing affordable care to all Americans. 'If in fact this legislation were to be substantially improved in these three areas,' said John Carr, the executive director of the group's Department of Justice, Peace, and Human Development, 'the members of the Senate will have a letter from the bishops' conference saying that the bill is an urgent national priority.' "
What about the increased public funding of contraception, sterilization etc.?
Mr. Carr just announced his retirement from the USCCB. Praise God!
TOM CHABOLLA
When John Carr resigned from the board of CCC in 2006, he was replaced in that position by Tom Chabolla, who worked for Carr as Associate Director of CCHD programs until 2008, when he left to work on the Obama Election Campaign. No one denies that CCC's anti-Catholic stances were well-known at that time. And guess what! Mr. Chabolla is now a board member of a Soros-funded organization that just sent out a long "talking points" memo to "reporters, editors and columnists" on how to undermine the bishops' challenge to the HHS insurance mandate.

RALPH McCLOUD
In December of 2008, the CCC and Gamaliel (parent of the local group SOPHIA) co-sponsored an event called the “Realizing the Promise Forum,” rallying around the election of Barack Obama. Ralph McCloud, the current director of CCHD, joined the celebration, proclaiming that “very soon we will see a New Jerusalem.” Also, while leading CCHD, he served as Treasurer for the political campaign of a radically pro-abortion State Senate candidate (now State Senator) in Texas. http://www.creativeminorityreport.com/2011/01/head-of-cchd-worked-for-pro-choice.html
So I ask you. Exactly what was unfair about ALL's "attacks" on CCHD leaders?
WE. ARE. FUNDING. OUR. OWN. DEMISE.

Dear Friend in Christ,
RADICAL Faith - that's what is needed in today's Catholic Church. A radical living out of the Catholic Faith.
That's the message that Catholics in London heard and happily rejoiced in.
Please watch this episode of The Vortex and pass it on to all your friends and family.

Let Us Clear Up the Misconceptions
After the continued onslaught of opinions by clergy in reference to the collective bargaining rights in Wisconsin, it is time to clear up the misconceptions, specifically the articles by Fr. John S. Rausch and Norbertine Br. Steve Herro.
First of all, clergy like to speak of collective bargaining as a right and that workers are losing their rights. Wisconsin has the strongest civil service laws in the nation above and beyond those of federal workers. To say that they are losing their rights as workers is a total misconception and play on words. Collective bargaining was a privilege given to state workers by the state legislature and, therefore, can be removed by the state legislature.
As someone who has read the Constitution, I challenge anyone to find that Constitutional right. Furthermore, what we saw in Madison with the protests was an example of democracy which I find humorous because we are a representative republic. Our founding fathers had the foresight to give us a representative republic versus a democracy which tends to be mob rule as evident in Europe. Benjamin Franklin stated it well when he said, “We have given you a republic, now we challenge you to keep it.”
The elections in November and the recent election for Supreme Court bore out the fact that the silent majority agrees with Governor Walker and the legislature. Br. Herro stated that “the bill strips the unions from the right to collect member dues directly from workers’ paychecks, which will add extra burdens onto the due collection process,” but he also cites Bishop William F. Murphy when he wrote, “Pope Benedict renews and reminds us of the church’s classic support for the right of workers to choose freely to form or join a union or other types of workers’ associations.” Apparently, Br. Herro does not understand the previous collective bargaining where workers were forced to join the union and have dues taken out of their checks. Therefore, where is their choice?
Approximately 90% of the dues paid by the union workers go to one political party that in return insures that public workers’ contracts remain out of the norm verses private sector jobs. This is a prime example of political payola which gives 17% of the state work force the power to tell the other 83% of the taxpayers what they will be paid.
Fr. Rausch states that public sector workers make 4% less than their private sector counterparts. I challenge any of the people in the public sector to come and join us in the private sector.
We have much more important issues such as the rights of the unborn which, unfortunately, are not championed by the benefactors of the 90% of the dues paid by union workers. As a Catholic man, I feel that our leadership should be focusing on this issue more passionately than the rights of workers are paid well in accordance to the standards of the average worker in our state.

Prayer
for C.U.T.
Father
God, we worship you for who you are. You are YHWH—all
powerful; all loving; and all righteous. We bow to your power,
wisdom and mercy, asking that we not get what we deserve—but rather
we are showered in your mercy and grace. Father, we come to
you as an army in disarray. We want to fight for you, but in
our earthly wisdom, we have prepared for war without seeking your
great counsel. Forgive us Lord, for we have brought shame on
ourselves by our zealousness and pride. We thank you for your
forgiveness of our arrogance.
Lord God Almighty, gird us for battle.
Our enemy is not Jim Wallis; not NAOMI, JUSTICE, WISDOM or JOSHUA;
not communism, progressivism or judicially active judges. Our
enemy is satan and his minions in the spiritual realm. He is
the father of lies and is lying to us once again, convincing us we
can overcome and be victorious in this battle in our earthly schemes
and wisdom. But victory, when it is achieved, belongs only to
You, our Father and King. Your name is the only one we seek to
glorify.
Father, we come to you a fractured, broken army. We are
Catholics, Lutherans, Baptists, Pentecostals and Evangelicals---and
we are all sinners who miss the mark and do not fully understand all
you teach us. We confess that we more often look at the speck
in our brother’s eye before removing the plank in our own eye.
We are a proud, arrogant people—but we ask you this day to do
whatever you must to humble us and break us. For only once a
great wild horse is broken, can it be ready to charge into battle.
Unite
us Lord around that which we all know—that You alone are God and
there is none above or beside you. That Jesus Christ, your
only Son, died for our sins on that cross—and rose again 3 days
later signifying victory over eternal death and the power of sin.
That your Holy Spirit lives in each of us as born again believers by
our faith in Jesus alone. And that our deeds are a proof of
the faith and love within us.

We
worship you and you alone our God and Father. And we know you
are faithful to complete the work you began in each of us. So
break us; mold us; strengthen us; and then send us into battle
against the enemy in the spiritual realm. Equipped with the
power of the Holy Spirit, we will see demons flee and that those who
are blind will see. Our battle is not for this earthly
kingdom, but to advance your eternal Kingdom without end.
We pray these things in the name of your Son and His name is Jesus. He is our Lord and Savior. Amen.

2 Chronicles 7: 14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
